CBD for dogs
We offer CBD drops for dogs from Konopná farma Liptov in three strengths: 5%, 10% and 30%. Our PET oils are approved as a veterinary product for dogs and cats and are made in Slovakia, right in Liptov. Owners most often reach for them during thunderstorms, fireworks or before a visit to the vet, because they help calm animals in stressful situations. Each bottle contains 10 ml and has a dropper for precise and easy dosing. The dosage table by dog weight will help you choose the right strength and number of drops.

Frequently asked questions
It depends on the strength of the CBD oil and the dog’s weight. With CBD 5% PET oil, it is 2 drops per 15 kg a day; with 10% oil, 1 drop for every 10 kg; and with 30% oil, 1 drop per 30 kg. If you have no experience with CBD for dogs yet, start with the 5% oil.
Yes, CBD PET oils are approved for both dogs and cats. For cats, we recommend CBD 5% PET oil: give a cat up to 5 kg 1 drop a day and a cat over 5 kg 1 drop twice a day. Do not give it to kittens or to pregnant or nursing cats, and if your cat takes medication, consult your vet first.
No. CBD oil for dogs from Konopná farma Liptov contains no THC or other psychoactive substances. This is essential for animals: dogs are more sensitive to THC than humans because they have more cannabinoid receptors in the brain, according to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
CBD 5% and CBD 10% oils have no limit on the length of use. Give the 30% CBD oil for dogs for a maximum of 1 month according to the label. In a 2022 study, healthy dogs received CBD every day for 6 months at a dose several times higher than stated on our labels, and the authors found it well tolerated.
For dogs, we recommend our CBD oils for animals. The CBD oils for humans in our range are full spectrum and may contain trace amounts of THC. Their dosage is designed for people. During approval, the Slovak ÚŠKVBL also assessed the PET oils for animal safety (Section 7(2) and (3) of Slovak Act No. 17/2018 Coll.), and their dose is stated per kilogram of body weight.
A possible side effect of CBD oils for dogs is diarrhoea. It is therefore advisable to watch how the animal tolerates the oil and not to exceed the recommended daily dose.
CBD oil strength for dogs by weight
When choosing the strength of CBD oil, or drops, for your dog, the animal’s weight is what matters most. All three strengths have the same composition, hemp seed oil and CBD, and differ only in strength.
- CBD oil for dogs with a strength of 5% contains 500 mg of CBD (approx. 2 mg per drop).
- At a strength of 10%, the CBD content is 1,000 mg (approx. 4 mg per drop).
- CBD drops for dogs with a strength of 30% contain 3,000 mg (approx. 12 mg per drop).
If you have no experience with CBD for dogs yet, we recommend starting with 5% drops. We recommend the 10% oil for medium and large dogs, or for dogs that are already used to CBD and need a slightly higher dose. The 30% oil is intended exclusively for dogs over 30 kg.
Dosage
| Dog’s weight | Suitable oil | Daily dose according to the label | Example |
| up to 30 kg, first time using CBD | CBD 5% PET | 2 drops per 15 kg | 15 kg dog: 2 drops (approx. 4 mg CBD) |
| all weights, dogs used to CBD oil | CBD 10% PET | 1 drop per 10 kg | 20 kg dog: 2 drops (approx. 8 mg CBD) |
| over 30 kg | CBD 30% PET | 1 drop per 30 kg, for a maximum of 1 month | 60 kg dog: 2 drops (approx. 24 mg CBD) |
For dogs over 30 kg: You can choose either the 10% or the 30% CBD oil. They differ in concentration and therefore in the number of drops needed to reach the required dose. You can give the 10% CBD oil for dogs with no time limit, while according to the label the 30% oil can be given for a maximum of 1 month.
Giving CBD drops to dogs and cats
You can give our CBD drops to dogs or cats in two ways.
- Mixed into food
If your dog does not like having a dropper near its mouth, simply mix the CBD oil into its food. Ideally use a smaller portion, so the animal eats all of it and gets the full daily dose.
- Given directly
The second way is to put the CBD oil directly into the dog’s or cat’s mouth. This way, you can be sure the animal has taken the full dose. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. With the first doses, watch how your dog or cat tolerates them, as diarrhoea may occur as a side effect. If the problems persist, stop giving the oil and consult your vet. You do not need a veterinary prescription to buy our CBD drops for dogs. Store the oil in a cool, dark place out of the reach of children, and use it within 18 months of production. We have described in detail when to give the oil before a thunderstorm, New Year’s Eve or a journey in the article CBD oil for dogs: how many drops and when to give it.
Uses of CBD oils for dogs and cats
Thunderstorms, fireworks and visits to the vet often cause stress and restlessness in dogs. CBD oils are also used in situations like these. They are also used in the care of older dogs that need support for proper musculoskeletal function. Our CBD oils for dogs and other animals are approved as veterinary products with the declared purpose of helping to calm animals in stressful situations and supporting proper musculoskeletal function. These areas of use are based on the user information assessed during approval by the Slovak Institute for State Control of Veterinary Biologicals and Medicines (ÚŠKVBL) under Section 7 of Slovak Act No. 17/2018 Coll. Each concentration has its own approval number, stated on the relevant product page.
Warnings before use
Do not give CBD oils and drops for dogs to young, pregnant or lactating animals. If your dog or cat is taking medication, which is common in older dogs, consult your vet before the first dose. The oil is intended for animals only and does not replace veterinary care. If fear or mobility problems persist, your dog belongs in the hands of a vet.
